Founder

Rashidi Sumaili is the founder of Victoria Hospital DRC Project Australia, born in DRC Congo, and spent nine years in refugee camps in Tanzania before moving to Australia in 2005.  

Throughout his life, Rashidi is known for being a leader. He is also the founder and the CEO of Future Voices Inc. –  Nelson Mandela Learning Centre Shepparton Australia Project. 

Future Voices Inc. - the Nelson Mandela Learning Centre Australia Project officially endorsed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in South Africa to continue delivering Nelson Mandela’s legacy that contributes to social cohesion by developing skills for participation in society and extending understanding of different ways of living. This includes skills in communication for living, working, and investing in a national and global context.

Rashid is a member of the African Union's Pan African-Australasian Diaspora Network (PAADN) and a recipient of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Award - UPF.org.  UPF is an NGO in General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

He is a board member of the GV Heath Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC).    

 

Rashidi's career path mainly involved helping and supporting people in various roles from individual care to overseeing and implementing of organization's procedure and policy interpretation, to security and administration positions. He has also done manual laboring process work and volunteered for the community for many years and in local government positions.

 

Rashidi’s skills and knowledge are transferrable to different industry settings as he has broad experience working with networks of industry, business, government, and civic contacts gained through past and present leadership roles.  Rashidi grew up in the Territory of Fizi DRC Congo where the population in the area lives on less than two dollars per day.

His struggles in childhood were his driving force to create a hospital that would offer more than health needs but create opportunities in terms of social, economic, and increased human capital for the people of the Territory of Fizi South Kivu Democratic Republic of Congo.
